My hands-on experience
It is very quiet
One of the first things I noticed was how quiet the Cooler Pro is. To tell whether it was even running, I had to hold it up to my ear. In normal use I found it very quiet and unobtrusive. I did not measure its sound level with a decibel meter, so this is a personal observation rather than a laboratory noise rating.
My two-hour direct-sun check

My battery runtime check
Svalto sent me the Long-Haul Kit, which includes two Power Cells. I ran the cooler on a single fully charged cell until it shut off, which happened just after 7.5 hours. That lands at the low end of Svalto's stated 7–9 hours per cell.[1]
This was one informal run, not a controlled battery benchmark. I did not log ambient temperature, setpoint, or how often I opened the lid across the whole run, and all of those affect runtime. With two cells you would swap in the second before the first depletes, so plan around charging rather than treating 7.5 hours as a guaranteed number.
What I like
Active cooling with a live temperature display
A gel pouch can slow warming, but it usually does not tell you the temperature around the medication. The Cooler Pro gives you a live chamber reading and lets you lock the touch panel so the setting is less likely to change inside a bag.[1]
That display is useful because the cooler has real environmental limits. You can see the chamber temperature instead of assuming that a cold exterior means the medication is in range.
Swappable cells instead of a sealed battery

It also works while plugged in
Svalto says the cooler can run continuously from a suitable USB-C source with the Power Cell removed. That can be useful in a car, at a desk, or in a hotel room even if you do not need cordless operation all day.[1]
The product page gives device-specific capacity
Svalto's current capacity table is more precise than the original outreach email. The company estimates space for up to five slim pens, four FlexTouch-style dial pens, or about two wide-cap Mounjaro or Zepbound single-dose pens.[1]
“Five pens” does not mean five of every injector shape. Check the exact pen or autoinjector you receive from your pharmacy before ordering.

Svalto's Medication Fit Studio is one of the more useful parts of its website. You choose the medication presentation that looks like yours, then view an illustration of how that device may fit inside the Cooler Pro or Home Base. The tool also accounts for device formats that vary by country and lets you submit measurements or a photo if your exact device is missing.[7]
Pay attention to the result label. Svalto says a green product-specific Tested badge means physical fit evidence was supplied. Other results are dimension-based estimates or are still waiting for measurements, and the fit overlays are illustrative.[7] I would use the Studio to narrow down the right product, then compare the pictured device and listed dimensions with the pen actually dispensed by the pharmacy.

The important limitations
It may not hold 2–8°C in hot surroundings
Heat is the main limitation. Svalto says the cooler typically reduces temperature by about 15–20°C below ambient on USB-C power and about 15°C below ambient on a Power Cell. Its own product page says that at 30°C (86°F) ambient, the chamber may be around 10–15°C while plugged in or around 15°C on battery, rather than the 2–8°C target.[1]
Do not leave it in a parked car, direct sun, or an unconditioned hot space and assume the set point guarantees the actual temperature. Keep it shaded or in air conditioning and watch the live display.
Cordless use costs more than $159
The lowest-priced kit requires a power cable. Someone buying specifically for cordless airport or transit use needs at least the Travel Kit. A spare cell adds cost but may be necessary for a long itinerary.
It weighs more than a passive case
Svalto lists the Cooler Pro at 900 g, or just under 2 lb, before adding medication and accessories.[1] That is manageable for many carry-ons, but it is much heavier than a small insulated pouch.

Capacity changes with injector design

When active refrigeration may be unnecessary
Check the current label for your exact medication and device. Refrigerated storage and allowed room-temperature periods are not identical across brands or presentations.
For example, current Wegovy (semaglutide) instructions say to refrigerate the single-dose pen at 36–46°F (2–8°C), while allowing it to remain in its original carton at 46–86°F (8–30°C) for up to 28 days before cap removal.[4] Current Mounjaro (tirzepatide) instructions say to refrigerate single-dose pens and vials at 36–46°F (2–8°C), with up to 21 total days at no more than 86°F (30°C) if needed.[5]
That means some travelers may not need powered refrigeration for a short, climate-controlled trip. Others may prefer active cooling because of heat exposure, longer travel, multiple pens, or a medication/device with different storage instructions. Confirm the plan with your pharmacist rather than applying one brand's rule to another.
Flying with the power cells
Each Svalto Power Cell is rated at 37.7 Wh.[1] FAA guidance limits ordinary rechargeable lithium-ion batteries to 100 Wh per battery, so the cell is below that threshold.[2]
The important packing rule is that spare lithium batteries belong in carry-on baggage, not checked baggage, and their terminals must be protected from short circuit. FAA also notes that airlines may impose stricter quantity or watt-hour limits.[2]
TSA's insulin guidance permits insulin in carry-on baggage and instructs passengers to tell officers about medically necessary liquids and present them separately for X-ray screening.[3] TSA provides no Svalto-specific guidance, and the final screening decision rests with the officer. Keep medication in labeled packaging and check current TSA and airline rules before departure.
How I would use it
- Check the medication label first. Confirm whether refrigeration is needed for this trip.
